"What a terrible knight for a Curse"

There is a dagger called Xur's Bane. Legend said that this was the weapon which did Xur in. Wielded by a treacherous and deceptive rogue. She was the only one who could get close enough to kill Xur. Others tried. Oh, so many tried. But Xur's weapon was all seeing. At the center of its hilt, an inhuman glaring eye. If that horrifying weapon had a name, it has been lost to history. It foresaw every attack, giving Xur an unstoppable advantage. Until, of course she appeared-- the rogue. Xur was beguiled by her beauty and skill. So Xur accepted her as an apprentice. She got close to Xur. Too close. As Xur laid in bed, dying from her dagger wound Xur looked into her eyes and said, "Thank you... for freeing me from the sword."

No one knew what happened to the Rogue or the two weapons.
