Unity Vulnerability Issue Addressed
Fixed it! Unity Vulnerability Patched
Oh man, Unity really faceplanted hard this week.
As you read this, a new & shiny patched version of AdventureQuest 3D has been submitted to Google, Apple, and Steam. It was very easy to do. Almost too easy. Unity released a patched version of their editor, and all we needed to do was use the new version to re-compile our game and re-submit. Done. Problem solved. Quest complete!
So What Happened?
Last week Unity casually dropped a bombshell: every single version of Unity since 2017 had a "dormant vulnerability," aka a ticking time bomb inside. Cue collective gamer-verse meltdown O___O And the panic was justified: 50% of all mobile games are built in Unity, and not to mention the countless Unity games published on Steam, Itch.io, Epic Games, and more. The good news is that Unity found this vulnerability and released a patch before it was exploited in the wild. Better news is that AQ3D is 100% safe!
As of right now, there is no evidence of any active Unity attacks. Platforms like Steam and Microsoft have already implemented additional protections and warnings to their users. All game developers around the world need to take prompt action and update their Unity Editors and rebuild their game projects. Yes, it is tedious, but far better than waking up to find out your game has been turned into a Furby NFT simulator without your consent.
Unity’s Reputation... and Redemption Arc
They say life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. How quickly Unity responded to this emergency gives me a lot of faith in them. They were fast, decisive, and honestly, impressive. All three big game development tools--Unity, Unreal, & Godot--have all had their rough patches. Pun intended. Unity has certainly gotten the most negative press recently, but it remains one of the best and most stable tools for making games.
Crisis averted. AQ3D is patched. And the gamer-verse can breathe again.

TL;DR: AQ3D is 100% safe following Unity's recent vulnerability announcement.
Battle on!
Artix and the amazing AQ3D team
