Gjappy is looking for testers. Here is his letter to you:
AQ3D Testers Wanted!
During the last public call in September 2015 we got to bring on 10 awesome new testers. They are doing a great job and I am very proud to announce we are doing very well! Platinum Lady joined me up as co-lead and we make an awesome team.
At the end of 2015 you guys (YES, YOU!) doubled the AQ3D Kickstarter goal and made it possible for the team to build an awesome game for you guys. As the testing team, we are truly honored by so much trust from the community and we do our best to keep track of any issues we find.
But all testers are volunteers and we all have real lives. Over the past few months, we have sadly had to say goodbye to Blood, Chrysus, Crimzyn, Dakareto, Furore and Gatorbait. We all thank them for their contribution to AQ3D and wish them success in their future endeavors.
However, that leaves us short so we are looking for new AQ3D Testers!
In the previous call I already mentioned we are looking for testers that both qualify in skill and personality. To be able to test you need to know personal balance and game balance.
These are the skills that testers need:
First of all, the core thing of being a tester is being able to read and understand in such a way that you can explain any issue that you discover to someone else thoroughly without skipping any detail. Ex. If you immediately skip to e-mailing us without reading the whole post, then you might not be qualified. Testing is also reading the whole thing.
To creatively think of strategies on how to possibly break/glitch a feature.
To creatively and patiently attempt to reproduce player reported breaks/glitches over and over.
Testers should always be able to reproduce an issue that they report, and can make it happen again at any time.
Knowledge of Skype and Google Docs is required. You may be asked to learn new programs and devices as you progress.
You must be able to understand the priority of a certain bug, as in how important it is to the game. A tester needs to understand the source of it and how fast it should be expected to be fixed.
Patiently understand and help players fix common or known issues that can be easily solved.
Certain personality traits are also required. We are looking for this kind of person:
Be creative! Sometimes we need to think outside the box and think of trying things that most players would not think of.
Be determined. We do not give up, but we keep trying in all possible ways to figure out how something works or how something breaks or glitches.
Be professional! It is very important that testers are professional. We represent AE towards to players, so we speak English, follow the rules, promote AQ3D, answer player questions and help out however we can.
Be Self-motivated! We are, of course, looking at motivated testers that are able to help us multiple days a week with testing in AQ3D and other game-related tasks. To be very honest there are no rewards to being tester if you cannot do your work.
Be a team player! Testers work in a team. You need to be able to cooperate in the team, follow guidelines and instructions, as well getting along with others and knowing what you need to do.
Be positive, friendly and inspirational. As AE volunteer you will get a special place in the community. Being able to stay yourself but still serve the community are very good traits.
Curiosity, thoroughness and understanding are the best personality traits for a tester. You want to know how things work and eventually understand how they work and have the ability to explain that thoroughly.
And of course, you have read Cysero’s FAQ on HOW-TO-BE-MOD (or TESTER).
If you’ve got to this point without skipping anything, then you are indeed a thorough reader and we might be able to use your help. Like in the previous call for testers, existing AE volunteers need to apply like anyone else. We’d also love to bring on extra people that can help us test on devices like iOS, Linux, Mac, Google Cardboard and Oculus Rift.
Before you apply make sure that:
You are 18 years or older.
You realize we will do a check on your account records.
These are strict requirements. If you‘re not 18 or do not have good records, we won’t ask you to join us. Still interested? Then send your application to bugs@aq3d.com with the title “AQ3D Tester Application” before March 10, 2016, with the following information:
AQWorlds or AQ3D name (Both, if possible).
Your e-mail address.
Your age and date of birth.
The languages you speak.
The name of your Master Account.
Forum Account (if you have one)
Facebook or Twitter accounts you use for our games.
Possible testing devices; (PC, iOS, Android, Tablet, Oculus Rift. Be specific about models)
A short description of yourself on how you could help us, why you want to help and how much time you can dedicate to us each week.
Which experiences you have with testing games and AQ3D.
Like always, it is impossible to reply to everyone. You should not expect a reply which means extra happiness if you get a reply! If you do not, then you still feel okay because it went as you expected.
If you do not get a reply from me that means your application will be saved for future reference because I am sure this will not be the last call we do with the game growing so fast.
Please, do wait patiently when you apply and do not ask me or my co-workers about your application. All you need to know is here. If you still ask us, that does says something about you.
